Function / Content

This series consists of survey plans referred by the Department of Lands as the "DIA" (Diagram Plans) series. The plans record the survey detail for the area designated, including locality, index/reference box with number of sections, area (section, road, total), description and scale for the first 100 plans. From plan 101 they contain table down the right hand side with the following information azimuth assumed at or assumed from, date of marking, field book no., scale, public plan no., Office Reference includes calculation book no., chainage close, angular close, area, compared with FB(field book), examined, diagram passed and date registered. The plans are certified by a licensed surveyor and survey approved and certified correct by Surveyor General. The plans are in a scale of chains/feet to inches, some have the conversion table feet to metres stamped and dated. The DIA plans numbered 1 to 512 with dates 1869-1936 and are small format survey plan, black and white copies printed on transparencies. "Numbers 1 to 100 are manually drafted duplications of selected DBK (Diagram Book) series and 101 to 512 are loose leaf survey diagrams replacing the DBK and TBK (Town Book) series."
